How to Display Google Photos on LG webOS TV
April 30, 2026
LG webOS TVs have some of the best displays available — OLED panels with deep blacks and vibrant colors. They're also some of the easiest TVs to develop apps for. Easy Photo Player brings your Google Photos library to LG TVs with a simple linking flow.
Why an LG TV makes a great photo display
LG OLED panels render photos with detail that LCD TVs cannot match. Black areas are truly black, which is especially flattering for photos with night skies, shadows, or dark backgrounds. The wide color gamut shows skin tones accurately. webOS itself is fast and responsive — Easy Photo Player launches in under 3 seconds on most LG models.
Compatibility check
Easy Photo Player needs webOS 4.0 or newer (LG TVs from 2018 onward). To check your webOS version: Settings → All Settings → General → About this TV. Older LG TVs (2014–2017) cannot run the app because their browser engine is too old. The app is currently in LG Content Store QA review — in the meantime you can sideload it via LG Developer Mode.
Step-by-step setup
Open the LG Content Store and search for Easy Photo Player. Install the app. Launch it from the home screen. A six-character linking code appears. On your phone or computer, visit easyphotoplayer.com/link, sign in with Google, and enter the code from your TV. Pick photos to display. The slideshow starts immediately.
Getting the best image quality
If you have an LG OLED, set Picture Mode to Standard or Cinema (not Vivid, which oversaturates). Easy Photo Player automatically uses 4K resolution on capable TVs. For HDR photos: HDR is not yet supported but is on the roadmap. Photo selection lasts 7 days, then needs a quick refresh — the auto-refresh feature on the server keeps photos playing between renewals.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the LG Content Store version be available?
LG QA review is ongoing. We expect approval within 1–2 months. Subscribe to easyphotoplayer.com for the launch announcement.
Can I use Easy Photo Player on a 2017 LG TV?
No. webOS 4.0 (2018) is the minimum because the older browser engine in webOS 3 lacks features Easy Photo Player needs. We may add a limited 2017 build later, but for now 2018+ is required.
Does it work in HDR or Dolby Vision?
Not yet. Easy Photo Player currently displays photos in standard dynamic range. HDR support is on our roadmap. The OLED panel's native contrast still makes photos look great even without HDR.
